Advice on Picking Your Photographer

OK…you have read my blogs before on this and I am a bit passionate about the topic. If a friend or relative offers their services to you to be your photographer, and unless they have wedding photography experience with an expensive camera with back up, you might be very disappointed. Also you won’t be destroying a friendship if the shots do not turn out as you had hoped. By contracting a professional, a person who does wedding photography as a career, you know you’ll get great images of your big day.

What if it rains on my wedding day?

Spring is around the corner and there are many weddings scheduled. So the question is what if it rains on my wedding day. Will I have to cancel my plans? Does if affect my flowers and hair? Does the photographer know how to shoot in the rain?  Mother nature has no rules and will not offer you any guarantees. Well relax you have experienced rain many times so if you have an outdoor wedding planned simply have a back up plan if it rains, and bring lots of large colorful umbrellas.

Time Line

If you find your photographer rushing you it might be for a good reason.Photographers have to deal with a little thing called timeline. We have a number of obstacles to overcome and sometimes it is to keep things moving and to get the shots necessary to telling your story. You have a wedding that starts at a certain time; you have a reception start at a certain time.Often times the bride and groom want to stay with tradition so they cannot see one another prior to the wedding. This means a photographer has to work fast and be creative.

The most important Investment you can make

Using a professional wedding photographer may be the most important investment you make. I can tell you that you don’t need a professional photographer for your special day, but I will remind you that your wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime event. Your wedding photographs will only grow in value and importance as the years go by, much like the pictures of your childhood. In talking with other wedding photographers, there is one thing we all agree on… how many times we've heard that the bride or groom wish they would have hired a professional photographer.

2012 Wedding trends

I have been watching this area quite closely to see (if any) major changes may carryover into 2012. Of course, 2011 trends will spill into 2012. So don't think of it as "last season" for doing something that feels personal and unique. Trends (to me) become less important when you find those things that you feel really fit your style and make you both look and feel like the couple you see yourself as.
